Abstract
The statement of the accuracy of dosemeter assessment contained within the British Calibration Service criteria for approved dosimetry laboratories has been analysed and Indices of Quality and Improvement have been derived by Smith (1981) to assist in laboratory performance assessment. Using this, the feasibility of quantitative inspection of approved laboratories against the BCS standard by means of routine dosemeter assessment exercises is discussed.
