Abstract

1. Observations on the relative amounts of nitrogenous compounds accumulating in developing eggs lead to the conclusions that embryos of Marisa cornuarietis are ammonotelic, those of Pomacea paludosa uricotelic.2. These results, obtained on related snails differing conspicuously only in embryonic habitat, emphasize the highly adaptive nature of nitrogen-excretion patterns.
