Abstract
Accessory soleus muscle is seen not infrequently at surgical correction of congenital talipes equinovarus. However this association has rarely been reported in the world literature, and not at all in the British literature. This abnormal muscle is thought to contribute significantly to the hindfoot deformity in these cases, and must be recognised if a successful correction is to be achieved. Abnormal musculature may be an indicator of poor prognosis. We describe three types of accessory soleus muscle.
