Abstract By rotatory-dispersion studies, it was confirmed that sophorol, (−) maackiain, pterocarpin, equol and homopterocarpin have the same absolute configuration at position 3. The results of the O. R. D. examination of (−) halostachine and pterocarpinoids allow us to assign the 3R, 4R configuration to pterocarpin and to the related compounds.
