Abstract

In one of the most representative short story of Wang Zengqi, Wang depicts a image of temple life with bold mundane features, and uses a monk’s love story as the main character and story development in an deeply admiring way. This story with the title meaning “The lay Buddhist ordination” under the Buddhist background proactively breaks Buddhist disciplines without guilt----It embodies Wang’s distinct interpretation of Buddhism which combines with a love on human nature that reaches the same end despite the seemingly violation of Buddhist doctrine.
