Abstract

'\'~,; \'i-' W. commissioned were Jakob Prandtauer as architect, Antonio Beduzzi, theatre architect and designer, for the inner fittings, the· sculptors Santino Bussi for stucco, Lorenzo Mattielli for stonework andPeterWiderin for .wood carvings, the Hagenmtiller brothers for .the stucco marble, Michael Rottmayr and Ippolito Sconzani for the frescoes, Rottmayr, Troger and others for the altar paintings, together with various painters and gilders, locksmiths, joiners, cabinetmakers and other craftsmen .from Vienna and St Polten*. The ground-plan and cross-sections (Fig. 1) show the architectural disposition. The dimensions of the interior space can be given as follows: total length 68m, width of transept· 25m, of nave 14m, of cupola 12m, height of nave 26m (max.), of cupola c.50m, of nave chapels 9m, volume c.30,000m•
