Abstract

A postal survey was conducted to investigate the opinions of social workers as to the need for social change, and the responsibility of social workers and their professional association to work for social improvement. It was concluded that the majority of social workers consider that social change is necessary and believe that it is their responsibility and that of the A.A.S.W. to engage in social activism. However, although most social workers have attempted to bring about positive social change, it was generally felt that the A.A.S.W. had not met its responsibility in the area of social action.
