Abstract

The spectra of gold and mercury were photographed in the100–300 Å region on grazing incidence spectrographs at theAntigonish, Troitsk and Gaithersburg laboratories. The source used ineach laboratory was a triggered spark. The 5d2–5d6ptransitions in Au X and Hg XI were analysed. All nine levels of the5d2 configuration and eleven of the twelve levels of the5d6p configuration of both spectra have been identified. The onlyunknown level is the 5d6p 3P0. 38 lines in the233–292 Å region in Au X and 38 lines in the200–256 Å regions in Hg XI have been classified.Hartree-Fock (HF) and Least-Square-Fitted (LSF) calculations interpretthe spectra satisfactorily.
