Abstract

The beta-gamma directional correlation of the 521-67 keV cascade in182Ta decay was measured to investigate the higher-order effects. The observed correlation function at $$\bar E_\beta = 450 keV$$ is found to be isotropic and is given byW β−γ(ϑ) (at $$\bar E_\beta = 450 keV$$ )=1+(0.025±±0.031)P 2(cosϑ). TheA 22 coefficient indicates no higher-order contributions to the 521 keV allowed but hindered beta transition of182Ta.
