Abstract

The 40Ar(p, t) 38Ar reaction was used to populate levels in 38Ar up to 6.52 MeV excitation using the 52 MeV proton beam. Zero-range DWBA analysis was performed for each transition. The overall normalization factors were derived for the transitions leading to the ground state and to the 3.39 MeV state with varieties of mixed configurations for the target nucleus 40Ar and for the residual 38Ar. A large enhancement factor was obtained for the ground-state transition as compared with ones for mass 54–56 nuclei obtained at the same energy.
