G. Abstract The 3.28 micron polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission feature in the galaxy NGC 253 comes from an extended star formation region ~100 pc across. The brightest mid-infrared source in the galaxy, which is displaced ~45 pc from the probable nucleus, does not show the PAH feature; it may be a dust-enshrouded recent supernova.
