Abstract

The 21Πgstate of39K2, which dissociates to the 4s+ 3dasymptote, has been observed for the first time via the intermediate levels of theA1Σ+u(v = 1–12) state using high-resolution cw optical–optical double resonance excitation spectroscopy. Absolute vibrational numbering has been assigned. A set of molecular constants has been fitted by using the observed term values. The Rydberg–Klein–Rees potential curve is calculated with the fitted molecular constants. The dissociation energy of this state has been determined to be 2318.09 ± 0.13 cm−1.
