Abstract
More than 1300 years ago, the physician Sun Simiao, who is known as “China's King of Medicine”, described in On the Absolute Sincerity of Great Physicians (often called the Chinese Hippocratic Oath) that a great physician must develop a heart full of great compassion and empathy and vow to alleviate suffering.1 Today, despite the rapid growth of cutting-edge technology in medicine, the core values of being a great physician in China remain as Sun Simiao defined.
