Abstract

Fourier transform spectra of 14ND 3 have been recorded in the region between 450 and 1600 cm −1 at a resolution of approximately 0.005 cm −1. More than 2500 transitions have been assigned to the ν 2 and ν 4 bands. Doppler-limited spectra of selected regions of the ν 2 band have also been measured with a diode laser spectrometer. All the experimental data have been analyzed simultaneously to provide a quantitative description of the inversion-rotational pattern of the v 2 = 1 and v 4 = 1 vibrational states up to J = 20. The effective vibration-inversion-rotation Hamiltonian used contained all symmetry-allowed interactions up to the fourth order in the Amat-Nielsen classification amongst the ν 2 and ν 4 states. The derived set of 57 significant spectroscopic parameters reproduced the 2012 transition wavenumbers retained in the final fit to within the accuracy of the measurements.
