Abstract

Angular distributions for the ( 16O, 15N) reaction on 26Mg at 45 MeV, 30Si at 45 MeV, and 48Ca at 56 MeV, have been measured at scattering angles down to 4° in the laboratory system. Diffraction-like structure is observed at forward angles in striking contrast to the smooth “bell-shaped” peak which occurs at larger angles and is generally associated with heavy-ion transfer reactions. The sensitivity of this forward-angle structure to the description of the reaction process is discussed.
