Abstract

The 12th Conference on Hemoglobin Switching was held in the Rosario Conference Center, Orcas Island, Washington. These conferences have been held every 2 years since 1978 and represent a gathering of molecular biologists, cell biologists, and physicians interested in the control of globin gene expression and erythropoiesis. The 12th conference consisted of 11 plenary sessions in which 61 papers were presented. Six plenary sessions were on molecular and cellular control of globin genes. Three sessions were devoted to stem cell biology and blood embroygenesis. Two sessions were on transcriptional control of erythropoiesis and 1 plenary session was on gene therapy of hemoglobinopathies. These themes were also the subject of 89 posters presented in three sessions. Speaker lists are provided below.
