Abstract

Self-study is a path of endogenous development to become perfect and develop personal abilities. Only when the self-learning force can be promoted, the learning results will be certain. Therefore, the issue of students’ self-study is mainly prominent in the current context. The study was conducted to find out the current situation of students' self-study as well as identify and analyze factors affecting self-study activities of students of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities in Can Tho University (CTU). Then, the study proposed several suitable measures aiming to support students who will have appropriate self-study methods to improve learning outcomes. Research data were directly collected by questionnaire method of 200 students at School of Social Sciences and Humanities, CTU. Descriptive statistical methods are mainly used in the study to analyze factors affecting self-study activities. The study has identified four groups of factors that affect students' self-study ability, that is, family, individual, school and teachers.
