Abstract

The coastal wetlands of Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province, play an important role in the local socio-economic development and livelihoods of local people. Resources-based livelihoods in the coastal wetlands such as agriculture, salt production, fisheries and aquaculture have contributed to ensuring food security and local economic development. However, these livelihoods are facing difficulties and challenges for sustainable development due to the increasing pressures of population and economic activities, resource degradation, environmental pollution and climate change. This study analyzes the current situation of developing livelihoods in the coastal wetlands of Nghia Hung district, identifies unsustainable livelihoods and explains their causes, thereby proposing solutions to contribute to the development of sustainable livelihoods in the study area.
