Abstract

It is the time of the year when I thank the people who spend so much voluntary time reviewing the Australian Veterinary Journal papers. The members of the Editorial Advisory Board, including the Associate Editors are as follows: Simon Bailey: Equine; Melbourne, VIC David Beggs: Cattle and sheep; Warrnambool, VIC Peter Bennett: Oncology; Sydney, NSW Glenn Browning: Microbiology and molecular biology; Melbourne, VIC Brendan Carmel: Wildlife, zoos, unusual and exotic pets; Melbourne, VIC Ross Cutler: Pig medicine and production; Ocean Grove, VIC Andrew Dart: Equine surgery; Sydney, NSW Trevor Faragher: History; Melbourne, VIC Jon Hill: Reproduction; Gatton, QLD Robert Holmes: Behaviour; Melbourne, VIC Robert Johnson: Zoos, unusual and exotic pets; Sydney, NSW John Larsen: Sheep and parasitology; Melbourne, VIC Robert Nicoll: Imaging and radiology; Sydney, NSW Stephen Page: Pharmacology; Berry, NSW Evan Sergeant: Epidemiology; Orange, NSW Virginia Studdert: Small animal medicine; Melbourne, VIC Peter Thornber: Animal welfare; Canberra, ACT Jane Vaughan: Camelids; Ocean Grove, VIC Colin Wilks: Microbiology and virology; Melbourne, VIC. Without their veterinary expertise and the time and care that they take in guiding papers through the peer review process, publishing the AVJ would be impossible. Many thanks to the reviewers who are listed below. Some reviewers agreed to review an extraordinary number of papers. John Cavalieri, Gemma Chuck, Melinda Cowan, Geoffry Fordyce, Marvin Kung, Kiro Petrovski, Brice Reynolds and Catherine Steel each reviewed six new and revised papers. John Larsen and Evan Sergeant have dual roles: last year they reviewed 8 and 10 papers respectively on top of their role as Associate Editors. The overall star was John Glastonbury who reviewed a mammoth 11 papers for us last year. I would also like to thank my other partners in the peer review team, Assistant Editor Dr Kerry Brown, a veterinary graduate who steered her professional life into the literary world of copy editing and proof reading (en-dashes, anyone?), and Editorial Coordinator Dr Nidhi Sodhi who has a background in environmental microbiology and extensive experience in experimental design. Nidhi manages Manuscript Central and helps me with all matters editorial and has now also turned her keyboard to scientific news writing. I would love to hear from any colleagues who are interested in joining, or finding out more information about, our Editorial Advisory Board as an Associate Editor. In particular, I am looking for people with expertise in equine and small animal surgery, both in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery, statisticians, and anyone with an interest in One Health. I realise that people rarely volunteer, so if you know of any colleagues who are well-published in any of the veterinary fields, and who may have a small amount of time to spare, please let me know. I would also like to hear from people who may feel that they are less experienced for that role but who would like to further their interest in publishing. With great thanks,
