Abstract

“It might well be said that the publications of a scientific society are the society, for certainly they are the chief tangible evidence of its existence and its vigor and vitality. There are other evidences, of course, such as meetings and committee activities, but the publications of the society set the standard by which it can be evaluated by others and surely are the determining factors in establishing and maintaining the prestige of the society enjoys in the scientific world.” (J.D. Luckett, 1952, “History of The American Society of Agronomy,” Agron. J. 54:57–69.) Maintaining the editorial standards of a scientific journal is the primary task of the journal editors. Their task is made much easier by the help of colleagues who are invited to review manuscripts. Through their critical comments and helpful suggestions, these invitation reviewers have done much to maintain and further the quality of soil research reported in the SSSAJ. The members of the Editorial Board of SSSAJ express their appreciation to the following individuals who helped review manuscripts during the past year. This list might not be complete due to problems in collating such information from many sources. We extend our apologies to those reviewers whose names have not been included.
