Abstract

Several influential models posit that the pathophysiology of psychosis includes thalamic association nuclei and that thalamic abnormalities are due, at least in part, to atypical brain development, and related to mechanisms of cognitive impairment. While multiple lines of evidence are consistent with thalamic involvement in psychosis, evidence that association nuclei are differentially affected is sparse.
