Abstract
The year 1992 saw an exciting and violent political change in Thailand, which resulted in the end of military rule and the dawn of a democratic spirit. After holding power for only a year, the military had to withdraw from politics in the face of mass protests, widespread public disaffection and intervention by the king. A democratic government was reinstated and a new mood was on the rise, marking a significant step in Thai political development.
