Abstract
Our previous studies have demonstrated the central role of Transforming Growth Factor (TGFβ) pathway and upregulation of profibrotic genes such as collagen-1 in leiomyoma as compared to patient matched myometrial cells. SP1, a downstream transcription factor from the SMAD activation, promotes expression of collagen-1. We examined the expression of collagen-1 gene in response to inhibition of TGFbeta pathway and SP1 inhibition in leiomyoma cells.
