Abstract
Innovative TFT displays are key components for situational driver information systems and infotainment systems in vehicles, as they allow more flexibility and new functions in interior design and safety concepts. Important criteria for the growing use of LCDs in vehicles of the future are already being met by a few suppliers today: Sharp describes and evaluates the most important criteria, such as high contrast values for safe reading at wide angles and in unfavourable lighting conditions, thereby responding to trends that will change the environments of drivers.
