Abstract

The “Street Medicine” elective will provide a broad experience for emergency medicine residents in the care of the homeless patient population. EM residents will provide care to patients on the streets and in camp sites. There will be opportunities to identify barriers and develop medical skills used in atypical social and environmental situations. Residents will also have the chance to manage problems related to mental health and addiction. They will work closely with EM faculty as well as members of a multi-disciplinary outreach health care team.
