Abstract

The possibilities of texture studies using neutron diffraction on coarse-grained natural rock salt are investigated. The average grain diameter of our samples lies between 2 – 4 mm. For texture studies classical angle dispersive neutron diffraction have been applied, complete pole figures were measured using spherical sample method and also a combination of transmission and reflection geometry for rock salt slabs. Initial material is natural rock salt from Zielitz mine (GDR). Pole figures were measured for the (200), (220) and (222) reflections of NaC1, The crystallographic texture is weak, in general (100)-fibre textures were found.
