Abstract
A preferred orientation of grains has been reported recently in splat-quenched foils of high purity cadmium, zinc and bismuth. A similar preferred orientation was observed in splat-cooled alumium and tin and is reported in the present paper. However, when AlSn alloys were splat quenched under identical conditions, the aluminium and tin phases in the splat foil showed a random orientation.
