Abstract
Textual and Interpretive Notes on the Epic Poems of Maffeo Vegio Seven textual problems are discussed in the epic poems of Maffeo Vegio: Supplementum Aeneidos (1428), Vellus aureum (1431), Astyanax (1430), Antoniad (1437). In each case, arguments are made for accepting new emendations or previously rejected variants. Due consideration is given to Vegio’s careful use of various Classical models (Virgil, Ovid, Seneca, and Statius). Acknowledgements: The author wishes to add to his article his heartfelt thanks to Michael Dewar (University of Toronto), Neil Bernstein (Ohio University), and the referees and editors of Humanistica Lovaniensia for their challenging and stimulating comments; he also thanks the students of his 2020 graduate Latin seminar, whose discussions of Maffeo Vegio were the genesis for this article.
