Abstract

The aim of the article is to confirm that in the discussions on the dialogue of cultures, a position prevails though a diverse, but not comparative one, in view of the works of cultural studies of the second half of the 20th and the early 21st century.Research methodology. This article is a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of cultural dialogue and the dialogue with the support of the conceptual positions of M. M. Bakhtin and V. S. Bibler.Results. The theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of dialogue of cultures and dialogue on the basis of the conceptual positions of M. M. Bakhtin and V. S. Bibler was realized. The concept according to which the interpretation of the dialogue of cultures is explained as a phenomenon which represents the process of interaction, the influence of various historical or modern cultures and certain forms of their coexistence was considered. The role of the dialogue of cultures as the first form of culture, which is the basis for further study of its development, has been confirmed. The article eliminates the gap in the scientific discourse, comparing the attitude to the dialogue between the cultures of M. Bakhtin and V. Bibler. The article reveals the content of both concepts and confirms the role of the dialogue of cultures as the first form of culture, which highlights the further study of its development.Novelty. An attempt is made in this paper to show that a cultural dialogue is possible in a positive way under the following conditions: the equality of all cultures, the recognition of the right of each culture to the difference from others, the respect for another culture.The practical significance. The article reveals M. Bakhtin’s and V. Bibler’s concepts and confirms the role of the dialogue of cultures as the first form of culture, which highlights the further study of its development. The use in constructing a model of intercultural communication was studied.
