Abstract

Abstract The two parts of the article are complementary. In the first part, Justin Vollmann takes a look at digital editing and in particular at the online edition Lyrik des Deutschen Mittelalters (LDM) from a McLuhanian perspective, with LDM also being presented in its basic functions. In the second part, Florian Kragl follows the ‘gutenberggalactic’ tendencies of medieval manuscript tradition using Bligger von Steinach as an example, and then asks about the editorial consequences. The common goal is to establish a differentiated view on the medieval manuscript culture and its modern edition possibilities.
