Abstract

Belding's Textbook of Parasitology has long been noted as a classic among workers in this field. The third edition of this text follows essentially the same format as that of the second. The recent advances in parasitology since the last publication are included and the updating of the text is apparent throughout the various chapters. The use of tables, graphic representations, and keys to facilitate study, so prevalent in the former edition, is continued and improved upon in some sections. Deletions of some are wisely made. The new illustrations of the leishmanian and malarial parasites improve the presentation of these diseases. Credit for the chapters on diagnosis and diagnostic methods is given to Dr. Alice T. Marston, while Dr. Matthew A. Derow wrote the chapters on the treatment of parasitic diseases. Both sections represent extensive revision of old material and the presentation of new data.
