Abstract

Abstract The Cu(II) complexes of (−)-sparteine (Sp) have been revealed to have tetrahedrally distorted structures in both monomeric and hydroxo-bridged dimmeric forms due to the steric requirements of Sp. Resonance Raman and UV absorption spectra indicated that the Cu(I) complex of Sp reacted with O2 at −80 °C to form a distorted CuIII2(µ–O)2 structure.
