Abstract
Photolysis of [Cp★Nb(CO)4] (1), Cp★ = η5-C5Me5, and yellow arsenic, As4, gives [Cp★(CO)2Nb(η4-As4)] (2) as well as [{Cp★(CO)Nb}2(As2)2] (3). An X-ray diffraction study of 2 reveals a planar cyclo-As4 (tetraarsacyclobutadiene) as ligand.
