Abstract

The TETRA (Trans European Trunked RAdio) is an emerging standard for digital private mobile radio, being prepared by the ETSI (European Telecommunication Standards Institute). /spl pi//4-DQPSK is considered as the modulation scheme, achieving a spectral efficiency of 1.44 bps/Hz. The BER performance of the TETRA modulation in a quasi-synchronous environment, using differential detection, is investigated. Performance degradation due to the differential delay between the received signals is studied. The effect of frequency offset and amplitude imbalances is also discussed.
