Abstract

An imidazole-decorated pyrene (1,3,6,8-tetraimidazolyl-pyrene, TIP) with aggregation-induced emission effect in THF-H2O system has been synthesized, which is further utilized for architecting a novel Co-MOF (TIP-Co) through hydrothermal method. Structural analysis demonstrates TIP-Co shows a 4-c uninodal 2D net, with a simplified point symbol of {44.62}. TIP-Co shows excellent pH durability in a wide pH range of 2.0–12.0, and its thermal stability is also demonstrated below 348 °C by thermogravimetric analysis. Significantly, TIP-Co can be developed as fluorescent sensor for CN− by fluorescence quenching with good performances in selectivity and sensitivity. A detection limit of TIP-Co towards CN− is evaluated to 89.3 nM, allowing the further use for monitoring cyanide ion in real water samples.
