Abstract

We study the implications of the SU(2) L×U(1) Y fermionic quantum numbers on nonpolarized forward-backward asymmetries into μ +μ −, cc̄, bb̄ and on the τ polarization. Two relations among these observable, satisfied in the context of the standard model, are singled out, and proven to hold at one loop order. We show that deviations from the predicted values can arise only in the presence of a low energy extended gauge symmetry and we present an analysis of these effects for a class of models containing one additional neutral gauge boson.
