Abstract

Tests on epoxy glue carried out on site in connection with the construction of a new precast prestressed motorway bridge are described. The object of the tests was to determine the structural strength of the resultant glued joints and to examine the curing characteristics of the glue under normal site conditions. The tests showed that, provided suitable precautions are taken, no particular restrictions are necessary upon allowable stresses for post-tensioned glued segmental concrete sections as compared with normal monolithic concrete.
