Abstract

Bromophos gave control of house flies, Musca domestica L., in dairy barns 6 to 21 and 16 to 46+ days when applied at 0.5 and 1.0% as a residual spray. Resistance to bromophos increased during the season at the 4 barns treated and was detected in other barns in the area having a history of organophosphorus insecticide application. Flies collected from treated barns were compared with laboratory strains, log dosage-probit curves are presented for 6 laboratory-reared strains. At the LD50 level the resistant strains showed 6- to 14-fold resistance over the susceptible strains.
