Abstract
A good momentum resolution (approximately 12% for a 2 GeV/ e pion beam) has been successfully obtained at KEK using a magnetic emulsion spectrometer (MES) developed by the authors. An investigation on the usefulness of the MES in the study of intermediate heavy ion reactions (0.8 GeV/ c per nucleon nitrogen ions on a tungsten nucleus) has been conducted at Saclay, and the results are reported in this paper.
