Abstract

Goldfish with and without tectal commissure transections were tested under two training paradigms for interocular transfer of appetitive pattern discriminations in a T-maze. In Experiment 1, a standard procedure produced transfer in intact fish, but disrupted transfer in fish with lesions. In Experiment 2, a modified procedure afforded the naive eye-hemisphere daily practice in the nonspecific monocular components of the task. This produced successful transfer in both normal fish and fish with lesions. The results are related to previous studies of interhemispheric visual transfer in fish.
