Abstract

A quark-antiquark potential obtained by an improvement of the Wilson loop method and including all first order relativistic corrections is tested on the c c and b b spectrum and compared with alternative proposals based on ad hoc assumptions on the Bethe-Salpeter kernel. The light quark pair creation effect is taken into account using results existing in the literature. The minimum χ 2 is found smaller for our potential than for the other considered potentials.
