Abstract
Summary The latest method of testing poles for strength at the Forest Products Institute is described in detail. The results of over 2,160 pole tests on different species appear in tabular form. Different methods are outlined of developing working stresses for poles from test data. Results of tests initiated to obtain the strength of green and seasoned poles of the principal pole-producing species grown in the Union are given and reveal but a small increase in strength occasioned by drying.
