Abstract

In this paper, some experimental results of an in-house designed and developed SiC MOSFETs based voltage source inverter (VSI) feeding an open-loop v/f controlled squirrel cage induction motor (SQIM) drive have been presented at different operating conditions, and the temperature of the heat sink has been measured to ascertain its safe long-run operation. A sinusoidal LC filter has also been designed and rotor-flux oriented control (RFOC) of SiC VSI fed SQIM drive with the filter has been implemented to control the SQIM. Active damping (AD) technique has been used to improve the stability of the drive at different operating points ensuring its satisfactory steady-state as well as dynamic performance.
