Abstract

The non-abelian SU(3) × SU(3) spin model in two dimensions is simulated by various stochastic differential equation methods. The Fourier-accelerated hybrid algorithm is seen to be the most efficient method considered. A scaling window approximately governed by asymptotic freedom is found by studying the system's magnetic susceptibility on lattices of sizes 16 2, 32 2 and 64 2. Critical slowing down is almost totally eliminated in the scaling region.
