Abstract

Actuators used in systems for precision positioning of mirrors must meet rigorous requirements pertaining to accuracy and speed of realizing a displacement. Usability of an actuator dedicated to such application is determined, among other things, on the basis of an analysis of its performance characteristics. The paper describes a test rig for studying performance characteristics of fast linear actuators, including piezoelectric and electrodynamic actuators. Functional modules of the rig are presented, which allow static and dynamic characteristics to be determined. The presented exemplary results of measurements proved a capability of the considered test rig to determine performance characteristics of fast linear actuators. Further improvements of the system are proposed.
