Abstract

The magnet test facility TOSKA at KtK is being upgraded for the test of the LCT-Coil at 1.8 K and the test of NET/ITER model coils. For the circulation of forced flow He II in a secondary cooling loop and through large superconducting magnets, e. g. the LCT-Coil winding, the facility has been equipped with three different pumps: a three cylinder piston pump fabricated by the Linde Company, a centrifugal pump with magnetic bearings and with a cold motor developed at the Walther-Meissner-Institut, Munich, and a thermomechanical pump developed and fabricated by KfK. The expected requirements of all pumps are in the range of 50 g/s mass flow rate and 400 mbar pressure head. A common test of the three pumps was performed in the He II bath with a dummy load. The facility is described and first test results are given.
