Abstract
Excitation functions are presented for the reactions $^{68}\mathrm{Zn}(p,\ensuremath{\gamma})^{69}\mathrm{Ga}$, $^{68}\mathrm{Zn}(p,\ensuremath{\alpha})^{65}\mathrm{Cu}$, and $^{68}\mathrm{Zn}(p,n)^{68}\mathrm{Ga}$. The first two reactions show substantial competition effects above the neutron threshold. Global Hauser-Feshbach calculations using particle transmission functions deduced from optical model analysis of elastic scattering data agree well with the results. Calculations using transmission functions obtained from the equivalent square-well representation of the optical potential are less successful, probably because of inadequate experimental information on particle strength functions.
