Abstract

As part of a program (CERN P238) to develop a B physics experiment at a hadron collider, we have run a large silicon strip micro-vertex detector at the Sp p S collider. To optimize the acceptance of B hadrons - produced principally at small angles - t he 48 silicon planes are placed perpendicular and close to the beam. We had clean running conditions with the first strip positioned 3 mm from the beams. We have collected 5 × 10 6 minimum bias events on tape at this position. Preliminary results of the analysis are presented.
