Abstract

The geometry of the experiment proposed as a benchmark is a glass channel of rectangular cross section that contains two immiscible fluid of different densities. The channel is suddenly tilted at a small angle from the horizontal and a Kelvin-Helmholtz instability develops under cer- tain conditions. It is suggested to compare the numerical simulation with the experimental values of the most unstable wave number, the starting time and the growth rate of the instability, and the wave speed.
