Terrorism a Threat

Abstract

Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives. It targets ethnic or religious groups, governments and political parties, corporations, and media enterprises. Terrorism that occurs throughout the world is known as global terrorism. It is probably the worst type of crime that ever exists. Not only does it kill people, it destroys livelihoods, economies, and civilized world order that took millennia to form. The results of terrorism are almost always catastrophic. Individuals or groups that commit these crimes are called terrorists. Terrorists exist all over the world. There are a few that operate alone, but mostly they are parts of one of many global organizations.It is almost impossible to track down these dangerous criminals because they keep such a low profile that no one can single them out from the regular public. There have been countries that have harbored terrorism worldwide, especially in the Middle East. There have been numerous events that led to disaster and eventually war. Most terrorist organizations are radical fundamentalists who commit terror in the name “jihad”. The word terrorism first appeared in the French revolution (1789-1799). Terrorism is the use or threat of violence to create fear inside civilians. Most terrorists do it to support their beliefs and political causes. Global terrorism is terrorism on a worldwide scale. Terrorism is criminal violence inflicted upon innocent bystanders. Terrorism affects men, women and children all over the world. A world-renowned terrorist such as Osama Bin Laden has performed criminal acts in many countries all over the world and has now made himself a wanted man.Terrorism affects people individually whether it is aimed directly to them or to people around them. As a result, people can lose their lives, family and livelihood. Terrorism affects society and families in a major way. When a terrorist attacks or destroys a building, public transport, houses etc. it affects the whole community. It is not only affecting the community by destroying something, but it also takes lives and family members. Terrorism has almost become a part of the modern society. In many parts of the world Separatists, religious fanatics and mentally abnormal had have try to challenge established Governments and have released waves of murder, violence and terror. Most of the day we come across violence, explosion, landmine blast or other aids of terrorism. The U.S. has suffered a lot of its casualties because of suicide bombings in recent years. The government has stepped up its security to try and stop these disasters, but it has been difficult. There are many other organizations and groups that use terror for other purposes besides religion. Terrorism dates back to at least the 1st century, when the Zealots, a Jewish religious sect, fought against Roman occupation of what is now Israel. At the beginning of the 19th century, terrorist movements acquired a more political and revolutionary direction. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, anarchists in Italy, Spain, and France used terrorism.The most famous and worst hijacking in history occurred on September 11, 2001 when 19 trained Islamic operatives went on a suicide mission and hijacked four domestic airlines loaded with fuel. Two of them were guided into the Twin Towers in New York City causing the buildings to burn and collapse killing more than 5000 civilians and more than 400 police and firefighters. One crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. taking about 200 lives, and the other one crashed into a plain field in Pennsylvania. This was the worst attack of any kind in U.S. history. The September 11 attacks left over 2000 children without a parent or parents. If a public transport vehicle such as a bus gets blown up by suicide bomber, the bus is no longer useable and more importantly, people are dead. This will cause people to be late to work, which will cause the community to have poor services.Innocent civilians in public places or in public transport may fall victims of brief-cases bombs, toy-bombs, etc. VIP and high public officials are kidnapped and held hostages by the terrorists till the Government accepts to the demands of the terrorists. International terrorism or Global terrorism includes those acts where two or more States are involved. It is the outlook of the State law to control those acts of terrorism which remain confined within the boundaries of a State only which for convenience may be called National terrorism.
